SEPTIC INSPECTIONS

Certified Septic System Inspections

We are California Certified Septic System Inspectors. Periodic inspections can help ensure the functionality of your system and detect issues before they progress and become major problems that may compromise the functioning of your wastewater disposal system. When selling property, California Civil Code (Section 1102) requires the seller to disclose to potential buyers, in writing, any and all known property faults, including septic system issues. To thoroughly inspect the septic tank, we pump it out. In addition, our inspections cover many facets of septic system operation, including:

  • Checking for signs of surfacing sewage, which is a significant health risk and a violation of County Code
  • Checking the effluent level in the tank, which may indicate a failing leach field
  • Checking the construction material of the septic tank to be sure it is an approved material
  • Checking for cracks in the tank or root penetration that would prevent the tank from being water-tight, thereby compromising safety
  • Checking to be sure that the tank is situated in an appropriate location relative to foundations and other structures
  • Checking for effluent backflow that may indicate a failing leach field
  • Checking that the size of the tank meets the requirements for the house
  • Checking for the presence of sanitary tees on both inlet and outlet lines
  • Checking the tank compartments and that the baffle is intact
  • Verifying that the house has been continuously occupied prior to inspection in accordance with regulations
  • Performing a hydraulic loading test or similar test that reflects upon the capability of the drainage field to receive effluent from the septic tank.
